Genesis Healthcare owner of nursing homes in Sarasota County including Pinebrook Center, located at 1240 Pinebrook Road, Venice, FL. The United States Department of Justice recently announced that it has reached a settlement with this large nursing home corporation.
Genesis Healthcare is a publicly traded company which owns two local nursing homes in Sarasota County: Pinebrook Center in Venice and Springwood Center in Sarasota. Recently, it was reported that Genesis Healthcare will pay nearly $53 million dollars to settle claims brought against it by the United States Department of Justice in which Genesis was alleged to have inadequately staffed facilities, engaged in billing fraud and violated Medicare rules pertaining to the provision of physical therapy to residents. The settlement will be paid out over a five year period by the company.
