Brookdale Venice Island complaints received from state inspectors for failing to maintain a safe and clean living environment
Brookdale Venice Island complaints concerning the condition of several areas of its assisted living facility were lodged following an unannounced survey in April, 2017. Florida inspectors observed several areas which caused them to conclude that Brookdale Venice Island was failing to maintain a safe and clean living environment for its residents. There were also some safety concerns found at that time.
Brookdale Venice Island is a for-profit 60 bed assisted living facility located at 1200 Avenida Del Circo, Venice, FL 34285. This ALF is part of the Brookdale Senior Living chain of assisted living facilities that are operated in many states throughout the country. Brookdale Venice Island is licensed to provide limited nursing services; however, this does not mean that residents receive around the clock nursing care like you would find in a nursing home. I am a Venice assisted living abuse lawyer, and I routinely discover and review the public records and reports concerning local assisted living facilities. Brookdale Venice Island was not fined following this inspection.
Brookdale Venice Island said to have dirty walls and carpet and safety issues according to investigators with the Florida Agency for Healthcare Administration resulting in issuance of Class III deficiency
If you have Brookdale Venice Island complaints or any concerns about a loved one who is a resident of this assisted living facility, you may contact the Florida Agency for Healthcare Administration at (888) 419-3456 to file a complaint. Your call will trigger an unannounced complaint investigation at the facility. All residents of Florida assisted living facilities have a right to live in a safe, clean and decent homelike environment. Florida law allows a resident or their family to file a lawsuit against any assisted living facility that fails to adhere to the resident rights of an individual. Since most violations of law do not result in fines, the strongest way to force assisted living corporations to improve conditions is through the courts.
One of the largest risks that residents of assisted living facilities face is falling. Falls happen to be the leading cause of death for persons over the age of 65. The most common injury suffered by the elderly when falling is a fractured hip. Life threatening head injuries can also occur. This is why it is imperative that all Florida assisted living facilities and nursing homes employ adequate numbers of staff. These staff members must also be adequately trained to supervise and assist their elderly residents. Of course, a loose handrail is a safety issue that any assisted living administrator should not have to be told represents a hazard to the elderly residents in the building. As a Venice assisted living abuse lawyer, I recognize issues like this as an accident waiting to happen.
