The owner / licensee for the facility is identified as “Venice FL Opco LLC.” The controlling interest for that LLC is “Venice FL Holdco LLC.” It appears that these entities took over around April of 2020. Since that time, the nursing home has been inspected on numerous occasions and cited with a total of 28 deficiencies. Venice Health and Rehabilitation Center Cited for Statutory Resident Rights Failures During 2024
According to investigators with the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration, Venice Health and Rehabilitation Center failed to comply with three out of five sampled residents’ statutory right to receive adequate and appropriate healthcare “consistent with the resident care plan, with established and recognized practice standards within the community, and with rules as adopted by the agency.” In addition to this violation, the nursing home was also cited for failing to meet requirements related to the coordination of mental health assessments, bowel/bladder incontinence, catheter and UTI care, respiratory/tracheostomy care and suctioning and dialysis care. Numerous citations were also issued in relation to the fire alarm system – testing and maintenance, maintenance, inspection and testing of doors and the maintenance of electrical equipment, including power cords. Fine Levied and Lawsuit Filed Against this Venice Nursing Home
On June 6, 2023, the federal government fined the nursing home in the amount of $17,185.00 based on its failure to meet minimum requirements set forth under the federal Nursing Home Reform Act.
A lawsuit was filed against the owner and licensee of Venice Health and Rehabilitation Center on October 22, 2024 and remains open and pending at this time. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of the estate of a deceased resident and alleges that this Venice nursing home was negligent in providing care to her and violated her resident rights. Among other things, the lawsuit alleges that the facility failed to provide her with appropriate care, failed to protect her from suffering falls, failed to provide her with appropriate nutrition and hydration, and failed to notify the family and physician of the development of infections and sepsis.
