Sarasota Center for Nursing Quality of Care Deficient in 2024
Investigators with the Agency conducted a combined re-licensure and complaint inspection at Sarasota Center for Nursing and Rehab and discovered numerous areas of non-compliance with both state and federal law. Of note, this nursing home was cited for failing to meet minimum requirements under the Federal Nursing Home Reform Act relating to “Quality of Care.” Under federal law, “[q]uality of care is a fundamental principle that applies to all treatment and care provided to facility residents. Based on the comprehensive assessment of a resident, the facility must ensure that residents receive treatment and care in accordance with professional standards of practice, the comprehensive person-centered care plan, and the residents’ choices.” Florida officials determined that this requirement was not met.
In addition to receiving a citation of deficiency for quality of care, Sarasota Center for Nursing and Rehab was also cited for, among other things, failures related to the resident right to receive adequate and appropriate healthcare, labeling or storage of drugs and biologicals, and respiratory / tracheostomy care and suctioning.
