Village Place Healthcare Cited for Failing to Follow Physician Orders and other Resident Care-Related Issues
The Village Place Healthcare complaints were investigated in conjunction with an unannounced re-licensure inspection in 2024. Two complaints were substantiated at that time, but there were many violations documented and cited by investigators at that time.
At the conclusion of the investigation, Florida officials cited Village Place Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center with deficiencies related to the failure to maintain a proper infection prevention and control program, failing to meet quality of care standards, failing to provide treatment to prevent and treat pressure ulcers, commonly referred to as bedsores, and failing to adhere to each resident’s right to receive adequate and appropriate health care. Village Place Healthcare Lawsuit Brought By Estate of Deceased Resident and Her Husband
On September 24, 2024, the husband and estate of a deceased resident filed a lawsuit against Village Place Healthcare and Rehabilitation, LLC alleging nursing home negligence and a violation of Florida’s nursing home resident rights. The complaint alleges many of the same issues found by Florida officials when they conducted their inspection of the nursing home; for example, the failure to follow physician orders, the failure to protect her dignity, and the failure to develop, implement and update an appropriate care plan to meet her needs. The lawsuit seeks damages for the harm and injuries that she suffered and for causing her wrongful death. The lawsuit against this Port Charlotte nursing home remains open and pending at this time.
