Liana of Venice lawsuits alleging negligence have been filed against this assisted living facility. Liana of Venice is a 54-bed for-profit ALF located at 2321 East Venice Avenue, Venice, Florida 34292. During the past five years since the facility opened, a total of four lawsuits have been brought naming the license-holder and operator of Liana of Venice as a defendant. These lawsuits related to the alleged negligence of Liana of Venice in caring for a newly admitted resident and for failing to protect a visitor at the property. The other two lawsuits pertained to the alleged breach of contract or failure to pay debts owed to vendors.
In addition to the negligence lawsuits, Liana of Venice received complaints that were investigated and substantiated by officials with the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration. Those complaints and the resulting deficiencies related to resident care, supervision, risk management and the requirement to electronically submit reports following an adverse incident.
Two Liana of Venice Lawsuits Allege Negligence
According to the first negligence lawsuit filed against the operator of Liana of Venice, the facility allegedly “operated its business in a manner that created a dangerous or unsafe condition by allowing potentially dangerous and/or violent residents to roam hallways of the premises without any warning” and that this resulted in an encounter that caused injury to the plaintiff who was a visitor on the property as a business invitee.
In a second negligence and wrongful death lawsuit filed against the corporation that is licensed to operate Liana of Venice, the estate of a deceased former resident alleged, among other things, that the facility “failed to prevent a fall with major injuries, failed to implement an effective resident service plan, failed to provide adequate supervision, and failed to maintain complete medical records.” This lawsuit was recently resolved by the parties.
