Two Siesta Key Health lawsuits remain open and pending against the operator of this Sarasota nursing home. Siesta Key Health and Rehabilitation Center is a fictitious name used by the operating company for this 120-bed for-profit nursing home located at 4602 Northgate Court, Sarasota, Florida 34234.
The operating company is a limited liability company named “Sarasota FL Opco LLC.” Even though the nursing home’s name changed from Orchid Cove at Sarasota a couple of years ago, that same operating company has remained as the license-holder. In other words, while the name of the nursing home changed, it appears that the operating entity and individual or individuals behind the scenes has remained the same.
The State of Florida issued a fine against Siesta Key Health and Rehabilitation Center in 2024 and as of this date the nursing home remains on the Florida “Nursing Home Watch List.” At the time of the facility’s most recent public inspection report, Siesta Key Health and Rehabilitation Center was cited with a total of six (6) deficiencies. These violations were cited for failing to comply with laws relating to quality of care, failing to follow physician orders, and failing to provide adequate and appropriate healthcare. Two Siesta Key Health Lawsuits Filed Against Its Operating Company Remain Open and Pending
In the first case brought against the operating company for the nursing home that is now known as Siesta Key Health and Rehabilitation Center, it is alleged that staff failed to protect an elderly female resident who was known to be at risk for falling. According to the complaint, the nursing home failed to implement fall prevention measures and an adequate care plan to protect her, and as a result, she suffered various injuries including a head injury, a hip fracture, and ultimately her death. The lawsuit seeks damages for her pain and suffering as well as wrongful death damages.
In the second lawsuit brought for nursing home negligence, a female resident is alleged to have suffered multiple falls and injuries, infections and an open wound on her head that was “filled with maggots” and that these afflictions ultimately caused her death. This lawsuit also asserts claims for damages for pain and suffering as well as wrongful death damages.
Both lawsuits were filed with the Circuit Court for the Twelfth Judicial Circuit in and for Sarasota County, Florida and remain open and pending cases at this time.
