The Springs lawsuits filed with the Sarasota County Circuit Court name Lake Pointe Investors LLC as the defendant and operator of the fictitiously named “The Springs at Lake Pointe Woods” nursing home. These nursing home negligence lawsuits span two decades. The Springs at Lake Pointe Woods is a for-profit 119-bed nursing home located at 3280 Lake Pointe Boulevard, Sarasota, Florida 34231.
As of this date, The Springs at Lake Pointe Woods remains on the Florida “Nursing Home Watch List.” Following complaints made and received last year, the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration cited this Sarasota nursing home with a total of six (6) deficiencies, including those related to abuse and neglect. The complete history of complaints, inspections and deficiencies at this Sarasota nursing home may be reviewed on the Agency’s website located here: https://tinyurl.com/5yut4kmv
The Springs Lawsuits Name Lake Pointe Investors LLC as Defendant in Multiple Sarasota Negligence Cases
The limited liability company that has held the license to operate The Springs at Lake Pointe Woods for more than two decades is Lake Pointe Investors LLC. This operating company has been sued in negligence lawsuits a total of ten times.

In the two most recent cases brought against this Sarasota nursing home, Lake Pointe Investors LLC and staff employed at the facility were alleged to have acted negligently and to have violated the resident rights of two residents.
In the first case, an elderly gentleman who was dependent on staff for his care and well being was alleged to have suffered a “severe lower gastrointestinal bleed with blood loss internally and through his mouth and rectum; acute renal failure and hyperkalemia, weight loss, malnutrition and unaddressed dental pain; and death.”
In the second case, the nursing home and its staff were alleged to have failed to have provided adequate and appropriate nursing care and related services to a gentleman that resulted in his “suffering the development and deterioration of wounds and suffering the development and deterioration of infections and sepsis.”
The development of pressure-related wounds known as “pressure injuries” is, unfortunately, often a life-threatening medical issue when they develop. These wounds can frequently become infected, especially if staff fail to follow basic infection control protocol such as washing their hands.
Both lawsuits were filed in the Twelfth Judicial Circuit Court in and for Sarasota County and are closed at this time.
