Aspire at Sarasota Lawsuit Alleges Negligence, Inadequate Staffing and the Failure to Follow Physician Orders

A lawsuit filed against Aspire at Sarasota by a resident alleges that the nursing home corporation that operates the facility failed to properly train and supervise staff, failed to employ adequate staff, and that the staff who worked in the building failed to follow and carry out physician orders.
As further alleged, as a direct result of these failures, the gentleman admitted to the nursing home suffered harm that was foreseeable, including the development and worsening of infections as well as the development and worsening of dehydration.
Infections and dehydration are two of the most common types of harm that result from neglect in a nursing home environment. Often, when nursing homes are understaffed or existing staff are poorly trained, the signs and symptoms of infection are overlooked or ignored. Frequently, staff fail to bring sufficient quantities of fresh drinking water to residents’ rooms. Other times, water pitchers are left our of reach of bed-bound residents. Dehydration frequently results. Of course, these issues are preventable.
The lawsuit filed against the corporate operating company for Aspire at Sarasota remains open and pending at this time in the Twelfth Judicial Circuit Court in and for Sarasota County, Florida.
