Since new ownership took over in May of 2021, Paddock Cove at Venice has received multiple deficiencies for failing to meet staffing standards, training requirements, food service standards and requirements for the proper maintenance of records. Paddock Cove Faces Lawsuit for Negligence in 2025
A lawsuit against the corporations that operate and manage Paddock Cove at Venice was filed in Circuit Court for Sarasota County on January 3, 2025. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of a deceased former resident by her estate and personal representative and asserts claims against the assisted living corporations for negligence and wrongful death. The Plaintiff has alleged that staff failed to “provide access to adequate and appropriate health care” and for failing to notify her “treating physician of significant changes in her condition” among other things. As of November, 2025, the case remains pending at this time in the Twelfth Judicial Circuit Court in and for Sarasota County.
Update: Paddock Cove at Venice Cited with 5 Deficiencies for Failing to Comply with Florida Law during 2025 Inspection
The assisted living facility was inspected during 2025 as part of its biennial license renewal. Florida officials arrived on an unannounced basis at Paddock Cove and reviewed records and interviewed staff members. Investigators determined that certain employees files lacked proof that they had received the required training necessary to work in a Florida asissted living facility.
