Sarasota Health lawsuits involving the nursing home fictitiously known as “Sarasota Health and Rehabilitation Center” allege negligence against the company that holds the license to operate the facility and its staff. So far in 2025, investigators with the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration cited Sarasota Health and Rehabilitation Center with a total of five (5) deficiencies following complaints and based on its failure to comply with state and federal law. In 2024, this Sarasota nursing home was cited with a total of twenty-one (21) deficiencies. This facility remains on the Florida “Nursing Home Watch List” at this time. Sarasota Health Lawsuits Allege Negligence and Understaffing at the Nursing Home
The most recent lawsuit filed against the operator of Sarasota Health and Rehabilitation Center was settled last year. In that case it was alleged by the estate of a deceased former resident who was known to be at risk for wandering and falling that the nursing home and its staff failed to protect and prevent her from falling and suffering injury. The complaint states that, as a result of this negligence, she was permitted to suffer a fall, fractured left hip and ultimately her death. Falls with often serious injuries are one of the most common adverse incidents that happen in nursing homes – especially when a facility operates with insufficient numbers of trained staff to assist its residents in a timely manner. Many of these falls occur when a resident who needs assistance to go to the bathroom can no longer wait on staff and attempts to get there on their own.
At least three other lawsuits have been filed against Sarasota Health and Rehabilitation Center since 2016. In one of those other lawsuits, this nursing home and staff was alleged to have failed to prevent a female resident from suffering skin breakdown to her feet, arms and buttocks commonly referred to as “bed sores.” This harm resulted in her eventual death according to the complaint.
