As a Venice assisted living neglect lawyer, I cannot help but notice the flurry of construction of new ALFs in the area. Over the past several years, Venice, Florida has witnessed a rapid expansion of the assisted living industry with the construction of new ALF communities. Tuscan Gardens of Venetia Bay, Heartis Venice LLC, and Liana of Venice are all newly built assisted living facilities that have come on the local scene within the past five to six years.
Tuscan Gardens of Venetia Bay, Heartis Venice LLC, and Liana of Venice are Newly Built ALFs in the Venice Area
Tuscan Gardens of Venetia Bay is located at 841 Venetia Bay Boulevard in Venice and maintains 175 licensed beds. This ALF offers and is licensed to provide extended congregate care services to its residents, better allowing them to “age in place” when appropriate. Tuscan Gardens of Venetia Bay Most recently, Heartis Venice LLC, located at 1020 N. Tamiami Trail, Venice, received its operating license and opened its doors with 211 licensed beds. Heartis Venice LLC offers limited nursing services in addition to standard assisted living services. This new facility was inspected on July 16, 2021 and found to be in compliance with all applicable codes, statutes and regulations under Florida law.
New Assisted Living Facilities Sometimes Face Challenges
Liana of Venice is a for-profit ALF with 54 licensed beds located at 2321 E. Venice Avenue in Venice, just west of the roundabout. This assisted living facility provides limited nursing services as well as adult day care services. The most recent inspection of Liana of Venice occurred on November 4, 2021 in response to a complaint. This complaint was not substantiated. Earlier in 2021, however, complaints made against Liana of Venice with the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration resulted in the citation of two Class 3 deficiencies and one Class 2 deficiency.
When searching for a suitable assisted living facility in Florida to place a loved-one, a good starting point would be to review the ALF’s inspection results. The Florida Agency for Health Care Administration routinely conducts inspections on a biennial basis and whenever someone makes a complaint.
