Best Care Senior Living at Punta Gorda is a for-profit 116-bed assisted living facility located at 2295 Shreve Street, Punta Gorda, Florida 33950. Over the past few years, investigators with the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration have conducted unannounced inspections at the location of this ALF following the receipt of complaints.
Since 2021, these complaints and inspections have resulted in the ALF situated at this address receiving a total of twenty-two deficiencies. It is important to point out, however, that a change of ownership occurred on November 1, 2022 according to public records on file with the State of Florida. After the change in ownership, no deficiencies have been cited. This certainly represents a positive change compared to years prior.
Best Care Senior Living Complaints Investigated
Since that change of ownership, however, there have been a total of three complaints investigated by AHCA during 2023 at Best Care Senior Living at Punta Gorda. The first complaint was not substantiated by Florida investigators. However, the second and third complaints received and investigated by AHCA were substantiated. However, no citations of deficiencies were found or cited at the time of that visit despite the substantiation of the facts giving rise to the complaints. A deficiency is a finding by the Agency that an assisted living facility has failed to comply with a requirement set forth under Florida law.
