Venice Palms Senior Living

January 27, 2026 James Keim

Venice Palms Senior Living lawsuits

Venice Palms Senior Living complaints have brought investigators with the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration to this assisted living facility to conduct multiple inspections since a change in ownership occurred a couple of years ago. This ALF is a for-profit 110-bed facility located at 1121 Jacaranda Boulevard, Venice, Florida 34292.

Since becoming licensed under new ownership, Florida officials have conducted three separate complaint investigations. Two of those investigations revealed violations of Florida law for which the corporate license-holder to operate the ALF received citations of deficiencies.

Venice Palms Senior Living Complaint Leads to Citation of Deficiencies, Administrative Lawsuit and Fine

Following the change in ownership, the first complaint made to Agency officials concerned the failure of the ALF to adhere to a resident’s rights. In this instance, the right that was at issue involved the alleged failure to follow a “do not resuscitate” directive (sometimes referred to as the “Health Care Advance Directives – The Patient’s Right to Decide”), that was on file with the facility. Instead of honoring the resident’s and family’s wishes as required by Florida law, employees at the ALF allegedly performed CPR and summoned emergency medical attention after finding the subject resident unresponsive. Following the conclusion of its investigation, the State of Florida filed a type of lawsuit against Venice Palms Senior Living, LLC known as an administrative complaint and, ultimately, imposed a fine in the amount of $16,000.00 against that corporate license-holder.

Another Complaint was Substantiated with Deficiencies for Violating Requirements Relating to Discharge

Florida law requires that all ALFs operating within this state ensure that their residents remain appropriate for continued residency in an assisted living environment and that they are capable of meeting each resident’s needs. Additionally, if a facility determines that it can no longer safely meet a resident’s needs, a proper discharge notice must me issued to the resident, and if applicable, to their responsible family member.

The second inspection following complaints concluded with the State of Florida issuing citations based on the ALF’s alleged failure to comply with requirements under Florida law relating to discharge procedures and the proper maintenance of resident records.

A third complaint investigation was conducted at the ALF on November 10, 2025. The complaint, however, was not substantiated and no deficiencies were issued at that time. The complete history of complaints, investigations, fines and deficiencies for this Venice assisted living facility may be viewed on the Agency’s website located here: https://tinyurl.com/3x4nh2yt
