Inn at Sarasota Bay Club Review

March 14, 2024 James Keim

Inn at Sarasota Bay Club reviews

Inn at Sarasota Bay Club is licensed to provide 44 nursing home beds. The license is held by Gulf Coast Health Care, Inc., a for-profit corporation. This nursing home is located at 1303 North Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, Florida 34236.

Since 2021, this Sarasota nursing home has been cited by officials with the State of Florida with 20 deficiencies. Florida officials investigated a complaint at the nursing home in 2023. While investigators were not able to substantiate the complaint, they did observe and document other violations during their unannounced inspection. The use of bed rails is generally disfavored in nursing homes because they are considered a form of restraint. Before bed rails may be used, nursing home staff must consider whether there are other less restrictive interventions that could be used to keep the resident safe from injury and harm.

Inn at Sarasota Bay Club complaints

In this instance, inspectors with the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration concluded that Inn at Sarasota Bay Club “failed to attempt alternatives prior to the use of bed rails for 4 (Resident #4, #12, #142, and #192) of 6 residents reviewed for bed rails.” The nursing home was cited with a deficiency for this violation. The State of Florida also cited the nursing home for, among other things, violations relating to the labeling and storage of drugs, the storage and preparation of food under sanitary conditions, and security management.
