The Springs at Lake Pointe Woods in Sarasota remains on the FL Nursing Home Watch List as of 2025 and was issued an “Abuse Alert” by CMS – Medicare. This facility is a for-profit 119-bed nursing home located at 3280 Lake Pointe Boulevard, Sarasota, Florida 34231.
Complaints about the nursing home were received by the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration during 2025. These complaints triggered an unannounced investigation. More than $10,000.00 in fines have been imposed against the license-holder of this Sarasota nursing home in 2025.
The Springs at Lake Pointe Woods Complaints Involving Abuse and Neglect were Substantiated
Earlier this year, a female resident was at the nursing home for rehabilitation. She required the use of a device known as a Hoyer lift to safely assist in transferring her from one position or location to another. This required the assistance of two nursing home staff members in order to safely carry out a transfer. According to investigators, a nurse assistant at the facility ignored policies and procedures and the needs as assessed for this resident and took it upon herself to attempt a transfer without a second employee present. The result was that the resident suffered a serious laceration to her leg that required transfer to a hospital where she received stitches.
The complaints were substantiated by Florida officials through a review of the resident’s records, an examination of the facility policies and procedures and interviews conducted with employee staff and the resident. The State of Florida cited the nursing home with four (4) deficiencies, including state and federal violations of the law for failing to ensure that residents remain free from abuse and neglect, remain free of accident hazards, and for violating the resident right to receive adequate and appropriate healthcare.
As of December, 2025, the facility remains on the Florida “Nursing Home Watch List” based on its inspection results. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has issued the red hand “Abuse Alert” for this nursing home, indicative of the fact that the facility has received citations related to resident abuse. In fact, in 2024 The Springs was also cited with two deficiencies for violating state and federal laws prohibiting resident abuse.
