Brookdale Colonial Park Lawsuit Settled in 2020
Brookdale Colonial Park was the subject of a lawsuit that was settled in 2020. The lawsuit alleged that the licensee, owner and operator of this assisted living facility was negligent, committed violations of resident rights and was responsible for the wrongful death of the resident. On June 19, 2020, attorneys for the assisted living corporate defendants filed a notice of settlement indicating that “the parties have reached a mutually agreeable settlement.”
Complaints Made Eight Times Since 2018
There have been eight complaints made with the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration concerning Brookdale Colonial Park since 2018. The most recent complaint that was made and substantiated by Florida officials was on October 7, 2019. At that time, the State of Florida issued a Class III deficiency against the company licensed to operate Brookdale Colonial Park. The deficiency was issued as a result of the assisted living facility’s alleged failure to comply with staffing standards required to be met under Florida law.
