Indian Beach Nursing and Rehab Center is the fictitious name for the nursing home being operated at 1755 18th Street, Sarasota, Florida 34234 by a foreign limited liability company known as 18TH ST SARASOTA, OPCO LLC.
The current operator of this Sarasota nursing home took over the facility on or about September 1, 2023 according to records on file with the State of Florida. The nursing home was most recently inspected in January, 2025 by Florida officials. At that time, state investigators cited Indian Beach Nursing and Rehab Center with a total of eight (8) deficiencies for failing to comply with state and federal law. Indian Beach Nursing Lawsuit Filed in 2025 by Unpaid Worker
The Indian Beach Nursing and Rehab lawsuit was filed in 2025 by a licensed dietician who worked at the nursing home. She claimed that the nursing home failed to pay her despite submitting invoices. In her complaint, she wrote that: “Efforts to get paid have not been successful through the Nursing Home Administrator.”
Dieticians perform an important and essential service in nursing homes. Many residents are at risk of malnutrition and dehydration. It is estimated by medical professionals that upwards of 60% of all individuals confined to long term care facilities suffer from dysphagia, or the difficulty swallowing. It is important for nursing homes to retain the services of a licensed dietician, not only because it is the law, but also due to the fact that so many residents are at risk of choking to death if they do not receive an appropriate diet. Of course, malnutrition and dehydration also represent significant risks to elderly persons residing within a nursing home. Ultimately, it appears through court records that this dietician was successful with this lawsuit. A Court Appearance Record filed on February 25, 2025 reflects that the case has been settled and that a satisfaction of judgment is to be recorded. It is a real shame, however, when a worker has to go to the extent of filing a lawsuit against a nursing home just to get paid for work they performed.
