Brookdale Palmer Ranch lawsuits have been brought by families against this Sarasota nursing home’s corporate operator and its assisted living facility. Brookdale Palmer Ranch SNF is a for-profit 60-bed nursing home located at 5111 Palmer Ranch Parkway, Sarasota, Florida 34238. The negligence lawsuits filed against Brookdale’s operating company, Brea Palmer Ranch, LLC, are numerous and go back nearly two decades. Brookdale Palmer Ranch SNF has also been cited for violations of state and federal law and was fined repeatedly over the past several years.
The Florida Agency for Health Care Administration inspected this Sarasota nursing home last year; however, it did not issue any deficiencies. Nevertheless, the nursing home remains on the Florida “Nursing Home Watch List” as of this date based on its past inspection results. Brookdale Palmer Ranch Lawsuits Currently Pending Allege Nursing Home Negligence and Wrongful Death
The operating company that holds the license for Brookdale Palmer Ranch has been sued nine times for negligence dating back sixteen years. Two lawsuits remain open and pending against the facility at this time.
In the first Brookdale Palmer Ranch lawsuit, the complaint alleges that the nursing home and its staff were negligent in caring for a gentleman, and that as a result, he suffered “skin tears to his left thigh and right elbow, laceration to his forehead and skin tears to his bilateral arms, complications from an infection, infection to a surgical site, complications from an infection to a surgical site, blood poisoning, bacteria in the bloodstream, sepsis, shock and septicemia.” This lawsuit seeks damages for negligence, pain and suffering and also for wrongful death.
In the most recent lawsuit filed against Brookdale’s operating company, it is alleged that the nursing home violated the resident rights of and was negligent in caring for an elderly resident. The complaint further alleges that the facility failed to maintain adequate staffing levels to care for her and that she suffered “the development and deterioration of wounds” and “the development and deterioration of malnutrition and weight loss” as a result. Wrongful death damages are also being sought in this case.
Both Brookdale lawsuits were filed and remain open and pending in the Twelfth Judicial Circuit Court in and for Sarasota County, Florida.
