Angels Senior Living complaints brought investigators with the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration to this Sarasota ALF on multiple occasions during 2025. Angels Senior Living at Sarasota is a for-profit 110-bed assisted living facility located at 5750 Honore Avenue, Sarasota, Florida 34233.
The investigations resulted in Angels Senior Living at Sarasota being cited with a total of eleven (11) deficiencies by the State of Florida based on violations of Florida law discovered by inspectors during their visits to the assisted living facility.
Angels Senior Living complaint involves the failure to provide proper resident supervision leading to harm
The most recent complaint at the facility was investigated just last month and resulted in the issuance of two Class II deficiencies related to the failure to comply with resident care requirements for supervision, resident rights and facility procedures. In this instance, it was determined that staff failed to properly supervise a resident who was in the ALF’s outdoor patio area, in the Florida heat, for a prolonged time period. He was ultimately discovered by staff and documented to be “drooling, was groaning, very hot, sweaty… and was not responsive to touch or voice.” It was also noticed that the resident’s wheelchair had become stuck on the side of the sidewalk, and this is what had apparently prevented him from being in a position to return inside to cooler conditions. 911 was called and the resident was transported for emergency care.
Unfortunately, this type of lack of supervision is all too common in Florida assisted living facilities. This was the second time that Angels Senior Living at Sarasota was cited in relation to resident care – supervision during 2025. The ALF also received a deficiency earlier in the year for violating staffing standard under Florida law.
Based on the severity of the deficiencies cited and occurrence of actual harm, I would suspect that the issuance of a fine will be forthcoming. This would involve the State of Florida filing a type of lawsuit against Angels Senior Living at Sarasota known as an administrative complaint.
